The Dual Motor TinyShield allows you to drive two independently controlled DC brushed motors from your TinyDuino! Create your own tiny robots or drones! Using two of the super miniature but very powerful 2mm x 2mm TI DRV8837Motor Driver (H-Bridge) IC, this shield will allow for to 1.8A per channel and operate motors between 1.8 to 11V. This TinyShield includes a built in motor controller to make driving motors simple and uses the TinyDuino I2C interface - saving GPIO pins on the TinyDuino processor for other tasks, and an easy to use Arduino library is provided to control this.

Since this TinyShield uses I2C for communication, multiple Dual Motor TinyShields can be used on the same (up to four Dual Motor TinyShields), and there are resistors that can be changed to set the I2C address.

The board includes a bypass capacitors, as well as heatsinking the chips to a large plane on the bottom side of the board to help with heat dissipation. An external power connection is supplied to connect up to your motor power source (like a battery), and all the connections to the motors are with standard 0.1″ spaced holes, that you can solder your motor leads into or use the supplied 0.1″ headers. This shield is also available with JST connectors to allow easy connection to motors with this connection (future option).

The TI DRV8837 has one H-bridge driver consisting of N-channel power MOSFETs to drive a DC motor or one winding of a stepper motor, or other devices like solenoids. An internal charge pump generates needed gate-drive voltages. There are internal shutdown functions for overcurrent protection, short-circuit protection, undervoltage lockout and over temperature. The DRV8837 can supply up to 1.8 A of output current. It operates on a motor power-supply voltage from 1.8 V to 11 V .

Note: While the DRV8837 supports 1.8A @ 11V, we highly recommend operating under 500mA @ 5V per channel unless you have some really good heat sinking in place.

Our Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) TinyShield allows you to connect your TinyDuino system to any compatible iOS or Android (4.3+) device using Bluetooth Low Energy (also known as Bluetooth Smart and Bluetooth 4.0). This technology is great for low power sensors and accessories and works with most modern phones without the need for jailbreaking on iOS devices. This TinyShield is based around the popular Nordic nRF8001chipset and allows wireless communication up to 10 meters away. The TinyShield also Includes power supply and level shifters on the board, so you can run your TinyDuino from 3.0V – 5V.

Note: This product is for ADVANCED USERS, and requires that the user develops their own iOS or Android BLE app in order to use this.

This long range radio shield is based around the very popular Silicon Labs SI4432 Radio Transceiver - the same radio as used by the HopeRF RFM22 module. Although this TinyShield is still in beta, we are designing for an RF range of over 500 meters, making this great for long range sensors or RC control (like drones and copters). Coupled with TinyScreen, this makes for a great way to display data from remote sensors, display data back from your robots, and create all sorts of cool remote display projects.

This TinyShield lets you add some control to your TinyDuino projects, like remote controlling a robot or playing a video game with your TinyScreen. This TinyShield has two analog joysticks on both sides, plus two push buttons along the top, to create a tiny joystick controller for your TinyDuino. This TinyShield uses the I2C bus for communication and can safely run over the full TinyDuino voltage range.

This kit allows TinyShields to be spaced out apart from one another .Using two flat flex ribbon cable boards, you can now place your TinyScreen or any other TinyShield remotely away from the main TinyDuino stackup. This kit includes two Ribbon Cable TinyShield boards, and one 6 inch ribbon cable.

The Barometric Pressure TinyShield allows you to measure barometric pressure and temperature with your TinyDuino. Based around theBosch BMP280 sensor, this allows you to measure barometric pressure with a +/- 1hPa absolute accuracy, and temperature with a +/- 1.0C accuracy. This is great for weather applications or accurate altitude measurements, such as for small drones or rocketry projects.

This TinyShield uses I2C communication and incorporates level shifters and a local power supply to ensure proper and safe operation over the entire TinyDuino operating voltage range up to 5V.

You can also use this shield without the TinyDuino – there are 0.1″ spaced holes for power, ground, and the two I2C signals along the side of the TinyShield to allow you to connect a different system.

Connect your projects to the internet with the WiFi TinyShield! Based on the Atmel ATWINC1500 WiFi module, this module supports 802.11 b/g/n, SSL, different security modes (WEP, WPA, WPA2, and unsecured connections) and has a built-in TCP/IP Stack that offloads network processing from your TinyDuino. The easy to use Arduino/Atmel supplied software library shows numerous examples on how to scan for WiFi access points, connect to an access point, run DHCP, ping IP addresses, do DNS lookups, connect as a client to a webserver and download web pages, or even act as your own webserver and access point.

This TinyShield includes an integrated antenna on the module itself with FCC/CE approval as well as built-in LEDs that indicate connection state and active data transfer. This TinyShield also includes level shifters and a local power supply to ensure proper and safe operation over the entire TinyDuino operating voltage range up to 5V, and uses an SPI interface to allow for fast data transfers.

Note: This module can act as an access point!

This TinyShield lets you measure 9 degrees of freedom (9DOF) with your TinyDuino and features the ST LSM9DS1 - a system-in-package featuring a 3D digital linear acceleration sensor, a 3D digital angular rate sensor, and a 3D digital magnetic sensor.

The LSM9DS1 has a linear acceleration full scale of ±2g/±4g/±8/±16 g, a magnetic field full scale of ±4/±8/±12/±16 gauss and an angular rate of ±245/±500/±2000 dps.

The 9 Axis TinyShield incorporates level shifters and a local power supply to ensure proper and safe operation over the entire TinyDuino operating voltage range up to 5V.
