Bronze explained

Bronze explained

The difference between real bronze and cold-cast or bonded-bronze

Foundry bronze is the traditional method of casting bronze using molten metal that is melted at an extremely high temperature and poured into a mould.

The same techniques of casting have survived many centuries and have changed very little. This method is called the lost wax process and is a highly skilled, labour intensive process.

Cold-cast bronze or bonded bronze is a resin that has bronze powder added to give the appearance of bronze.

The casting process is much simpler and faster and therefore less expensive.
