The Fourby Micro Kettle is one for the soloist!

This is one of our favourite products, not least because they are hand spun for us, right here in the UK, but because it is one of the smallest, lightweight, most portable kettles on the market today.

With its British made aluminium double-walled chimney, it is ideal for boiling water for drinks, sterilisation or for re-hydrating food. It also has the additional advantage of being able to use something like a Trangia as an alternative heat source.

Weighing in at approx 370g (13oz), to use the Micro Kettle, simply fill with water prior to use. It holds approx 530ml, which is about a pint (18oz). Then, when required, pull out the stopper, light a small fire in the base and keep the fire fed by topping up with fuel in the open chimney. In only a few minutes, the water will be boiling away nicely. even from very cold.

This is where the Micro Kettle has a unique advantage over its larger competitors on the market?The neoprene jacket allows for wonderful insulation and allows for a great heat-free grip when you want to remove the kettle off the base once boiled.

This Micro Kettle is remarkably easy to use, even in the coldest, windiest conditions. All you need is a handful of twigs (preferably dry), some bracken or moss to guarantee good spread of flame and we always recommend the old ?spark against-Vaseline-on-cotton wool? trick to provide for a great fire starter!!  However, you do not need to carry any fuel with it, just let nature provide you with that!

This aluminium core provides that very excellent heat conductivity and if you enjoy the organic approach to heating water, as opposed to carrying clumsy gas canisters or Meths burners, then this is the kettle that you should be carrying in your backpack or panniers for that outdoor camping, hiking, cycling, fishing trip.

The Fourby Defender Auxiliary Centre Dashboard, USB Switch Panel

Lots of Land Rover owners want to have additional auxiliary features to their vehicle, especially if they intend on taking their vehicle off-road or on an expedition overland trip.

However, if you want to have lights on your light bar, a winch, a split charge system, a Kenlowe fan, recovery beacons or work lights etc, you may hit a problem.There is a lack of dash space to fit your auxiliary electric switches. 

Fourby has manufactured this sleek, dash panel as a direct replacement for the OEM Defender panel. 

The panel is made from stainless steel

We designed the panel to incorporate 3 x 16A, round, 20mm LED rocker switches which we include with the switch panel. One in each of the colours: Red, Amber, Green

Then we added a 3Amp USB power supply, that's plenty of charge for your iPad, satnav or phone.

We may have over-engineered this one!

This is a direct replacement for the standard plastic hazard switch panel which tends to go very brittle over time, causing it to break away. This is the panel that lives on most of the earlier Defender dashboards.

Our panel stands out from the stainless steel plates on the market because it is designed as an exact replica of the original.

Importantly, this means that it includes the recessed machining on the back side of the panel which holds the switches in place.

As a result, the switches fit snug and secure into the panel and do not move around once the panel has been fixed in place.

At the heart of the Steel of Fire is a custom bar of high performance flint material. Spring loaded for compactness, the flint bar also rotates 360 degrees to help prevent uneven wear. A carbide striker built into the striker button is set at the perfect angle for maximum sparking - making it easy for you to start a fire.

It is also perfectly safe.  To prevent accidental ignition the unique design requires you to press the thumb button in order to engage the striker mechanism.

What a piece of kit!! A sprung loaded firesteel. Simply uncover the firesteel and lift the thumb button and release the spring loaded firesteel. Showers sparks into your desired area.

Ours is shown in the photographs. We have attached some paracord so it can be hung around the neck. You see that the covering of the steel has been worn away upon striking. It is these small filings that spark upon the "downward-striking" action.
