Designed for all-weather use, this revolutionary flint based fire starting system performs superbly in the most extreme marine, Arctic, desert, and jungle environments.

It was designed for Air Force fighter pilots at risk of being shot down in rugged terrain, or the mountain climber contending with challenging alpine weather. People like these need a fire starter that is operable with one hand in case of injury and never fails to light in the wind, rain, or snow. 

Why would you want anything less than the best?

The steel generates a stream of super heated sparks literally three times the heat of a standard match. You can easily light any material (wood, paper, bark, cloth, or man-made fire starting tinder) that a match will ignite. Best of all, you can accurately aim the sparks to ignite a roaring fire in all weather conditions, and the Steel of Fire will last a thousand strikes.

At the heart of the Steel of Fire is a custom bar of high performance flint material. Spring loaded for compactness, the flint bar also rotates 360 degrees to help prevent uneven wear. A carbide striker built into the striker button is set at the perfect angle for maximum sparking - making it easy for you to start a fire.

It is also perfectly safe.  To prevent accidental ignition the unique design requires you to press the thumb button in order to engage the striker mechanism.

What a piece of kit!! A sprung loaded firesteel. Simply uncover the firesteel and lift the thumb button and release the spring loaded firesteel. Showers sparks into your desired area.

Ours is shown in the photographs. We have attached some paracord so it can be hung around the neck. You see that the covering of the steel has been worn away upon striking. It is these small filings that spark upon the "downward-striking" action.
