He mobilizes support for Soviet political prisoners. (June 1933) In a pamphlet on Nazi foreign policy he exposes the strategy behind Hitler's "pacifist" mask. He gives an interview to the young Belgian novelist Georges Simenon. He tells the New York World Telegram why the U.S. government should recognize and trade with the Soviet Union. He answers an American letter about Marxist policy in the field of art and philosophy. (July 1933) He explains why the Japanese invasion of China must end in disaster. He argues for new propaganda tactics in a Europe threatened by fascism. He urges the Left Opposition to recognize that the Communist International is finished as a revolutionary force and that a new Marxist International must be built. He receives a visa allowing him to move to France and writes a farewell to Turkey.
